South Africa's textile garment production in October grew by 0.4%

According to data released by South Africa on December 11, 2012, if 2005 is used as a benchmark, the manufacturing output index for October 2012 is 116.0, which is 2.5% higher than the same month of last year (October 2011). The sales amount is South African Dollar. 1,403.06 billion, up 7.7% from the same year of last year; the output of the last three months (August 2012 to October 2012) increased by 1.1% over the same period of last year, and the sales amount increased by 4.7% compared to the same period of last year; January to October this year. Cumulative output grew 1.9% from the same period of last year; sales amount increased by 8.1% over the same period of last year.

South Africa’s output and sales in major industries in October are as follows:

(1) The output of food and beverages declined by 2.4%, and the total sales amounted to SEK 29.147 billion, up 13% over the same period of last year;

(2) Output of textiles and garments grew by 0.4%, and total sales amounted to KRW 3.781 billion, up 2.3% over the same period of last year;

(3) The output of timber and paper products grew by 10.6%, and the total sales amounted to South African currency 11.825 billion, which was 19.3% higher than the same period of last year;

(4) The output of petrochemical rubber grew by 11.8%, and the total sales amounted to 34.934 billion South African coins, which was 18.2% higher than the same period of last year;

(5) Non-metallic glass production grew by 0.6%, and total sales amounted to 4.608 billion South African coins, up 8.5% over the same period of last year;

(6) Output of base metal production declined by 2.5%, and total sales amounted to 2.929 billion U.S. dollars, up 1.1% from the same period of last year;

(7) The output of electrical equipment declined by 7.2%, and the total sales amounted to 3.817 billion South African coins, which was 2.7% lower than the same period of last year;

(8) The output of communications and home appliance equipment grew by 6.9%, and the total sales amounted to 1.634 billion South African coins, which was an increase of 8.0% over the same period of last year;

(9) The output of automobiles and parts declined by 4.5%, and the total sales amounted to SEK 15.999 billion, a decline of 8.1% over the same period of last year;

(10) The output of furniture manufacturing grew by 6.3%, and the total sales amounted to 5.519 billion South African coins, a decline of 1.0% from the same period of last year.
