WHY HOZEN?

I absolutely adore Hozen because their bags are incredibly practical, stylish, and just plain fun. Everyone who sees them asks where I got them, which is always such a compliment! Beyond the design, I love what the brand stands for—supporting sustainable fashion—and their unique styles. My personal favorite is the silver Pinatex belt bag—it’s sleek, eco-friendly, and adds an edge to any outfit.

 

DESCRIBE YOUR LOOK.

I’ve been told my style leans toward 90s-inspired chic. I love pulling inspiration from a mix of timeless looks and trends from that era. It doesn’t always have to be high-end or designer—I’m all about finding pieces that feel unique. Jumpsuits and overalls are my go-to favorites—they’re effortless and perfect for busy days!

 

FUN FACT.

Even though I was born in California, my first language was actually Portuguese. Growing up as the child of Portuguese immigrants, I didn’t start learning English until kindergarten. Spanish became my second language since I spent most of my childhood in a predominantly Hispanic community. It’s funny how those two languages intertwined so naturally!

 

 

IDEAL DAY?

An ideal day starts with a peaceful morning—having coffee outside while catching up on emails or listening to a podcast. Afterward, I’d take a train into the city for work. In the evening, I’d meet up with friends for drinks and dinner. Simple but perfect!

 

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR DOWN TIME?

I love spending time with loved ones, cooking new recipes, traveling when possible, working out, and soaking up nature. During lockdowns, it’s been nice to focus on hobbies like gardening and baking!

 

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

I’ve always drawn inspiration from small businesses and the entrepreneurs behind them. My parents are my ultimate role models—they immigrated here and built their own successful business. Their work ethic and resilience have shaped who I am today.

 

 

WHAT'S KEEPING YOU BUSY THESE DAYS?

I’ve been juggling side projects, starting a small garden, going on daily walks, and staying connected with friends and family through video calls. Baking has also become a big hobby lately—I can’t resist experimenting with new recipes!

 

FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD?

São Jorge in the Azores, where my parents are from. It’s stunningly beautiful, and every visit deepens my connection to my heritage. It feels like a second home to me now.

 

GUILTY PLEASURE?

Binge-watching entire series in one sitting—it’s definitely my guilty pleasure. Sometimes I’ll even finish a whole season in a single day. Oops!
