"Taiwan Embroidery" Shines at Hangzhou Asia Pacific Traditional Handicraft Fair

On the morning of the 17th of this month, the 2013 China Hangzhou Cultural and Creative Industry Expo opened at the Baima Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center. At the opening ceremony, the cross-strait cultural and industrial exchange meeting and the first session of the Hangzhou Asia Pacific Traditional Craft Fair were held together. A total of 582 projects and 661 exhibitors participated in this year's Yabo Expo, which was the most frequent event, the most abundant performance content, the most expressive form, and the largest number of participants for the province's previous expo events. Taixiu was one of the 28 intangible cultural heritages of Zhejiang Province and one of the country's 28 kinds of embroidery. It was also invited to participate in the exhibition and was awarded a number of honors by Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture. Chairman Lin Xia was awarded the honorable title of "Top Ten Young and Middle-aged Artisans of Artex Embroidery in Zhejiang Province". Her work "Original Derivatives" won the gold medal of "Understanding Peasant - Zhejiang Artex Embroidery Art Exhibition". Chen Ke, the director of Taixiu Art Museum, won the Special Contribution Award for the Heritage of Artex Artwork in Zhejiang Province. Designers Wang Jing and Wang Lingzhu's “All Things” embroidery shawl won the Silver Award for “Unrelenting Salary - Zhejiang Artex Embroidery Art Exhibition”. The designer Yang Haiyan's "Little Flowers" cheongsam won the silver medal of "Unresolved Passage - Zhejiang Artex Embroidery Art Exhibition".
